2017 Winter/Spring Classes

Happy 2017!
We've got a fun lineup of classes to offer you this February-April. There's something for just about every artist of any age, from painting and crafts for kids young and old, to printmaking and doodling and coloring for grownups!
To register and pay for classes via our secure server on PayPal, simply choose the number of spaces you'd like to reserve and click on the "add to cart" button.

New Series!
Coloring Nights for Grownups
A Benefit for the ACLU
Meet up with your friends, bring a beverage, and join us for three fun and creative evenings of coloring. A blank sheet of paper can be daunting, but with coloring pages, the outlines are already there!
It's a great way to reduce stress, relax and hang out in a creative and nonjudgmental environment.
I'll be on hand to offer tips on shading and techniques. There will be a variety of themes and styles to choose from. Coloring pages, crayons and colored pencils provided.
Feel free to bring some wine to share. We'll have sparkling cider, goodies to nibble, and groovy tunes.
All proceeds go to benefit the American Civil Liberties Union.

Friday Night Doodlefest: Heart Mandala
Join us for a series dedicated to jumpstarting your creative spirit.
In these workshops, artists and non-artists alike will learn how doodling and noodling around not only helps stimulate the creative juices, but how it has also been found to help us improve our concentration, listening and recall skills.  We'll provide all the materials you'll need, or bring your favorite doodle pen or pencil and sketchbook. No drawing experience required.

Feel free to bring some wine to share. We'll provide sparkling cider, and goodies to nibble.

All drawing materials included, just bring your creative self!

Valentine Printmaking Workshop
Learn how to carve a simple stamp to make your own Valentines or other cards.
We'll provide the materials, you supply your imagination!
No printmaking experience necessary.

Contemporary Vegetable Prints
Learn how to make and print patterns using materials found in any grocery store. We'll make beautiful stamps and use them to print stunning modern designs on fabric and paper. Paint, tools, cotton tea towels and various papers provided. Feel free to bring your own pre-washed cotton or linen fabrics to print on. Extra tea towels will be available for purchase during class.

Doodlefest for Kids!
Here's a class where kids young and old can feel free to doodle to their heart's content!
We'll learn the secrets to making various types of doodles, like Mandalas and Zendoodles, or you can choose to just invent your own!
All materials provided.

Tiny Terrariums
In this workshop, we'll make some sweet little terrariums. These small, self-contained eco systems are easy-care and a great teaching tool about how our environment works…plus they're totally cool!
All materials included in tuition.

Adult Paint Night: Sunflowers after Van Gogh
Our first ever in a series of painting nights for adults, we'll explore the age-old practice of copying the masters to learn their techniques. In this class, we'll guide you step by step through the process of painting a still life of sunflowers inspired by one of Vincent's famous paintings. You'll go home with a 16 x 20" finished canvas you can display proudly!
Feel free to bring some wine to share. We'll provide non alcoholic beverages and goodies to nibble.
All materials included. No experience required.

Altered Book Poetry Workshop
Also known as Redacted, Blackout, or Found Poetry, this mixed media, recycled and somewhat free- form class engages our imagination in two ways: with both visual art and creative word work.  Using pages from discarded books and magazines, words are redacted to create poetry from those remaining, and then the background is painted and colored to enhance the poem.
It's challenging and highly addictive!

Painting the Masters: Vincent Van Gogh 
Continuing our Painting the Masters series, we'll learn about one of the most famous and infamous Post-Impressionists, Vincent Van Gogh. In this class, we'll explore some of Vincent's paintings and paint a still life of sunflowers in his style.   All materials provided.

Design Your Own Prayer Flags
In this class, we'll learn a bit about the Tibetan custom of hanging colorful flags containing mantras and prayers to promote peace and other messages, which are said to be carried on the wind and spread throughout the world. We'll design and assemble our own interpretations of these flags using stamps, paints, stencils and inks.  Hang them up and spread your prayers to the wind!
This is also a fun class for parents and kids to take together.
All materials included.

Painting the Masters: Monet's Garden
Another in our Painting the Masters series, we'll learn about Claude Monet, one of the founders of the French Impressionist movement. His devotion to capturing the impressions of nature led him to paint many scenes over and over. In this class, we'll explore some of Monet's most famous works and paint a water scene in his style.   All materials provided.

Adult Paint Night: Monet's Garden

Cabin Fever Class!


Not another snow day!!

Let's face it, we've all got cabin fever by now, and after 9 snow days, lots of holidays, and the flu...we need to get out and do something!

And since I've been feeling stir crazy myself, I figured I'd warm up the studio and offer everyone a creative outlet:

SOCK MONSTERS!

Come over and sew a goofy, scary, cuddly monster from a pair of socks.
No sewing experience necessary. All materials included.
